This webinar will review the major findings of 2018 Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE) multidisciplinary post-occupancy evaluation (POE) of Cypress Cove Memory Care Assisted Living Households. This EFA Design Showcase Award Winning project had specific design goals for the experiences of residents and staff. POE team members will discuss this project in relationship to those goals with specific attention given to the design of resident rooms and special planning details that provide discrete staff support and service delivery. These features will be compared to the SAGE principles of safety, holism and well-being, autonomy, enhanced function, relationships, and support of caregivers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Explore an award-winning project at a deeper level to see how well the environment meets design goals.

Understand the role that the physical environment has on the well-being and success of residents and staff.

Learn how mock-up design approaches can enhance design outcomes.

Identify how planning principles can be targeted to enhance safety and well-being for special needs populations.
