Course Description

Local organizations and community members have the most agency in their neighborhood’s history, legacy and stories. Yet most times these same spaces are designed without them in mind. In this webinar we will share how to create an equitable design concept that honors a community’s ancestries, identities, and legacies. Carrying the design vision from the inside out, shaping both the interiors and the surrounding community in ways that authentically represent the people it serves.

Learning Objectives

Expand knowledge of equitable design and its impact in creating communities that are inclusive of and serve all people.

Identify methods to authentically engage and build trust with residents and organizations as co-creators throughout the design process—from concept to completion.

Reflect on how intentional community engagement can become a design driver, fostering connection, trust, joy, and celebration while enhancing the final design outcome.

Walk away feeling inspired to design with the people and empowered to reshape old systems.
