Join us to review lessons learned from the post-occupancy evaluation of an award-winning skilled care community. We will discuss the impact of feedback on future design decisions, including application to a subsequent full continuum of care community. This presentation will showcase the collaborative effort between a provider and design team to improve the physical environment, offering the best resident outcomes possible.

Presented by:

Ward Isaacson, AIA, is President of Pope Architects and Principal in Charge of the firm’s senior living practice. He brings over 25 years of experience as a designer, project architect and project manager. Throughout his career, Ward has developed a unique sensitivity to the dynamics of facility planning and design. He has a passion for designing for the needs and transitions of senior residents. Under Ward’s leadership, Pope Architects’ housing team has completed projects of all sizes and complexities throughout the country. He has been instrumental in establishing Pope Architects as a nationally-recognized leader in senior housing architecture and interior design.

Jill Schroeder, CID, is a Senior Interior Designer at Pope Architects and is a leader in the firm’s senior living practice. Her established and varied experience in all aspects of the design process compliments Pope Architects’ commitment to provide the best in senior housing and healthcare interiors. With over 23 years in the field, Jill is committed to pushing for innovative approaches to design while optimizing function with the best interest of each resident at heart.  A special interest in Memory Support spaces continues to motivate her in thinking outside the box to serve the sensitive needs of these individuals.

Calvin Shelangoski is the Director of Finance at WesleyLife. With his financial expertise and guidance, WesleyLife embarked on design and construction projects including The Cottages and Brio communities. Calvin has been actively involved in serving the aging community through his work with LeadingAge Iowa as a financial consultant.

Nancy Hamilton is Executive Director of Hearthstone, a Ministry of WesleyLife. Nancy has dedicated her entire career to healthcare. At Hearthstone, Nancy connects older adults with services they need to live healthy, independent and meaningful lives. Her role at The Cottages, Hearthstone community in Pella, helped shape the social model of care creating a true household living environment  where residents are encouraged to direct their own lives and team members are a part of self-led work teams.
