Course Description

A vast majority of the design community embraces Universal Design as a concept – especially those in the health and wellness sector, but true universal design implementation is challenging. What does universal design look like in practice? How can we move beyond the treatment of universal design as a compartmentalized approach to design for aging and accessibility? This presentation includes a shift of mindset and approach to using principles of universal design in not only the built environment, but also as part of the care model.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand design and building all-inclusive community.
  2. Understand the key components of universal design.
  3. Understand that universal design is sustainable and positively impacts ROI.
  4. Provision of case studies to understand the global meaning of universal design.
