WHAT

Market Research Should Support Design Decisions

Market research is increasingly important in not only determining whether or not a senior housing community should be built, but what the design features should be that will help position it for success. A market study that includes such tasks as detailed reviews of competitor websites, competitor interviews and on-site visits to key competitors will result in valuable information on the design features of competitive communities, how well amenity spaces are used, what organizations would change or have changed based on consumer and resident feedback. We also find that focus groups are a great way of testing many design features in terms of unit layout, size, etc. This webinar would address all of the issues described above. This allows the market research consultant to provide feedback to the developer and to the architect designing the community.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how market research can provide valuable feedback on design issues.
  • Recognize the importance of asking consumers what they like and dislike about design features.
  • Insure that developers require feedback on design when retaining a market research consultant.
  • Enhance the collaboration between developers and architects around design.
