This session was originally presented at the 2017 Environments for Aging Expo & Conference.
Those who are advancing the most successful person-centered care approaches assert that organizational, operational, and financial strategies must accompany environmental changes. If not, there will be an inherent misfit in the daily life for staff, residents, and the organization. Employing a post-occupancy evaluation for evaluating current environments is an efficient and effective way to assess the congruity between design and practice in relation to the feasibility and appropriateness of desired outcomes. Presenters will discuss critical steps in a POE process and provide concrete examples of documentation techniques that can provide evidence-based information to guide future decisions.
