Course Description:

Environments for Aging's annual Remodel/Renovation Competition, with support from SAGE, sheds light on many little-seen projects that have noteworthy aspects for inspiring renovation projects, big or small. This presentation will highlight winners of the 2016 competition as well as other noteworthy submissions. Explore renovation ideas for a variety of settings, and identify renovations ideas with construction costs ranging from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands of dollars, while learning about the competition submission process and key elements to include in your own submission for the 2017 Competition.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about renovation projects ranging in size, scope, and cost from a variety of older adult environments.
  2. Hear how architectural and interior design ideas impact resident quality of life and the experience for staff and family.
  3. Understand the importance of including operational factors when considering design decisions during a renovation project.
  4. Obtain tips for improving the success of a submitted project to the 2017 Remodel/Renovation Competition.
